Ex-intern adds to harassment allegations against judge
ColumbusDispatch - A former legal intern to Franklin County Environmental Judge Harland H. Hale alleges he frequently introduced her as "the hot intern" and once shouted to court employees that she used to work as a stripper. Carrie Radcliffe submitted a written statement that is expected to be made public today in support of a federal lawsuit filed in December against city officials and Franklin County Municipal Court. The suit alleges that the parties covered up or failed to act on complaints about inappropriate behavior by the judge. Radcliffe's 2006 internship was a traumatic experience during which she "learned nothing about environmental law in his courtroom but did experience profound disillusionment about the legal profession," she wrote. Radcliffe, now a 29-year-old lawyer, is one of two additional women who have accused Hale of inappropriate behavior since Brenda Williams, a former Spanish interpreter for the court, filed the lawsuit in U.S. District Court. In the suit, Williams says that Hale grabbed her breasts, used racial slurs to refer to her and otherwise created a hostile work environment.
Looks like a nice enough guy. Sounds like a total douche bag. We all know what's gonna happen here. Judge Jerk-Off is gonna get a slap on the wrist and be sentencing innocent people to life in prison just like nothing ever happened. He's a judge! Do you really think anybody in that powerful old-boy network is gonna screw someone else in the old-boy network? Never happen. All these judges do weird shit all the time and get away with because they know they have the power and the right friends in the right places. Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
